This is a recording..

I’m taking some 120 film in today to get developed, once I get it scanned I will definitely share it with you. I do have a couple pinholes and long exposures on it that I’m really excited to see the outcome. One picture in particular is a 20 minute exposure from the site of the tanker below. I have tried star trails before, just on my digital, and the results have been less than spectacular. They’ve actually sucked. I want to go back out to the desert and try them again, maybe a longer exposure on a 100 iso or 64 iso film. I am using my Diana F+ with is as analog as it gets.

I’ve thought about turning this into a Holga/Diana blog, with some pics from my Olympus XA thrown in. Those 3 seem to be the holy trinity of analog. Also, Lomography started a new “Lab” where people can upload photo’s and share them, which makes researching film a lot easier, since people will just tag their photo’s with their film type.

Tank at Dusk

Do as De La does..

Hello again!

So I have this blog here at robot jones, but I ignore it. I always tell myself I want to express myself more, through shit out there into the blogasphere, see what comes back. Right now is the perfect time in my life for Robot Jones to make a comeback. I originally started R J as a music blog with my buddy Jimmy because we love music, love to talk shit about it, love to download it and we wanted to make love to it. Anyway, I went to work full time and Robot Jones the music blog turned into Robot Jones my personal blog. Another thing, I quit Facebook last night. I quit that bitch cause I’m gonna be honest, I kinda hate people. People suck. I hate them, and they can hate me. I don’t care really I don’t, as long as you read my blog.

Film is Awesome..

So after quite a few rolls of film failures, I was honestly about to give up, and say goodbye to film forever. I was persuaded to keep at it by a nice clerk named Jessica at Samy’s Camera in Santa Ana. I did one more roll of 120 film in the Diana F+ and just by accident, had it cross processed. It was a 120 roll Color Slide Film 100 ISO with E6 processing that I bought, but I had ran through C41 processing to get the cross process effect.

Love The Library..free books for everyone.

I love the library. The Mission Viejo library is like a national treasure, but the Newport Beach main library is still pretty decent. I’ve read several books this year, like The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, The Wordy Shipmates by Sarah Vowell and When You’re Engulfed In Flames by David Sedaris…I just picked up a couple more. One on cults, conspiracies and secret societies in America and The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein..

One thing I love about this picture is the noise the 800 iso created..

Starting over…

Is it to late to start over? I say never. Well, originally this was suppose to be a music fan site, where my buddy Jim and I where gonna post about our favorite music and the what not, but it never materialized into what we wanted. So I plan on using it as an online diary, or a time capsule if you will.

Twitter still lame, even though I am a user:

I suck at Film

So I acquired a Diana F+ off of Craigslist recently, and what started out as a hobby has turned into an obsession. I went through 4 rolls of film in about 10 days, and most of the results have been less than stellar. I also purchased a scanner so I can scan in my negatives and not have to pay a printer, mostly because I’m a cheap bastard and film can be quite pricey.

Well right now I’m working on a 35mm roll in my Diana, and since the Diana normally shoots 120, the picture should bleed through the sprocket holes, kinda like this. I’m not expecting much with the first roll, but we shall see.

Here’s my first foray into the wonderful world of film:

Sofie through Diana

The B&W film I used was Lomography 100 speed and it looks really crappy. I doubt I will ever use that brand of film ever again,

So I haven’t updated my blog in like a year, but I plan on updating my exploits with film more frequently. I also have my sisters Canon AE-1 35mm, I’ll post those as well.

Late Night Tales – Los Angeles

I’ve ignored this blog of mine for a couple months now. Maybe I’ve been a little busy to share, and truth be told, I do this more as a time capsule for myself than anything else. I do have a few photo’s to share…

Friday night was intended for the family to make a short trip down south to San Diego for Cara’s graduation party but we were unable to acquire babysitting, so Cara, I’m sorry, but we had every intention of going.

We had babysitting for Friday night only and we drove into Los Angeles to hang out with Ryan and Gina.
We ate dinner in downtown (Blue Cheese Fries = crazy delicious) and ended up at Akbar in Silverlake where the drink situation is wack. Bring cash.
We ended up being in the car quite a bit due to traffic suckin. So I basically took a picture at every stop light, and the results were pretty lackluster, here’s the best.

File Magazine

Wow, I’m kind of stoked on this. I submitted a few photo’s to File Magazine and they accepted one and put it in their collection.

Here it is:

File Magazine is a little different than your traditional photo magazine, here’s a brief synopsis:

Welcome to FILE magazine. We publish images that treat subjects in unexpected ways. Alternate takes, unconventional observations, odd angles — the photographs in the collection reinterpret traditional genres.
